Why Nordlight
Investing has never been more accessible, yet understanding markets has become increasingly difficult. Investors are surrounded by endless information, conflicting opinions, social media noise, and a growing number of tools that often create more complexity rather than less.
The recent rise of AI has made information easier to access, but not necessarily easier to trust. Generic AI assistants can provide useful answers, yet they are not designed to function as dedicated investment research platforms. They often analyse only a limited slice of available information, may lack broader market context, and can produce different conclusions when asked the same question in different ways.
Founders
Nordlight was founded by Kees van Wijk and Bouke Heeroma. Both have backgrounds as independent entrepreneurs and programme managers and have worked on complex programmes and transformation initiatives for several large Dutch companies.
That experience taught them that good decision-making does not begin with more information, but with reliable data, clear structure, and insight into how the pieces connect. That conviction is the foundation of Nordlight: a research platform that brings together market data, models, AI-assisted research, and portfolio context.
Kees and Bouke work closely together on the development of the platform. Kees focuses primarily on portfolio analysis and the role of AI in making signals clear and understandable. Bouke focuses on machine learning, modelling, and research logic.

Kees focuses on the meaning of signals within the broader portfolio context. He explores how AI can help bring model outputs, market information, and portfolio risks together clearly, so users can better understand what a signal means, why it may be relevant, and which context belongs with its interpretation.

Bouke develops and tests Nordlight's models. These models identify patterns, risks and meaningful changes in market data. He makes sure that data, machine learning, research and the signals on the platform fit together. He pays particular attention to three things: every signal must be explainable, the models must be reliable, and the uncertainty of every outcome is shown honestly.
Together, Kees and Bouke ensure that Nordlight remains analytically rigorous, practically useful, and understandable.
